I am going to tell you exactly why you should care but let me give you some flabbergasting facts first.

It is a common saying in our industry that a MLM company enters momentum when they have 40,000 distributors and $100 million in sales.

In the first quarter 2012 we did $36 million so there is no doubt LifeVantage is heading for a $100+ million year.

But what about the number of LifeVantage distributors?
It is shockingly low.

There are less than 45,000 people on autoship and a majority of them are Preferred Customers

It is rumored that 76% of people on autoship are Preferred Customers. In my organization it is 81%.

I LOVE IT!!!!

You see, Preferred Customers are more loyal than distributors, do not miss understand me as I Iike and need distributors as well. However, PCs are not making any money

and do not care about the business, they just keep ordering and ordering and ordering

What does this mean?

STABLE volumes and my income does NOT DROP!

I have never been part of a company with such high retention rates, again around 80%.

Why did I get into MLM in then first place?

I will be honest, I want to create walk away residual income.

BUT

How can you walk away if distributor consumption makes up most of or all of your income and the average MLM industry new distributor career is 93 days.

That is why people cannot build a long term sustainable business in network marketing. If your organization is made up of mostly distributors you are building your

business on sand not foundation.

So how can you create a Preferred Customer base that is stable and re-orders every month?

You need a product that is consumable and proven to work (in Protandim’s case there are 8 third party university studies that are not funded by LifeVantage and show

what Protandim can do).

Another key aspect of creating long term walk away residual income is the reward paid to the distributors.

Again, here most people in this industry have it wrong. It does not matter how much is paid at the top, you can make great money at the top ranks in most companies.

What matters the most?

The UPFRONT payment to new and lower ranked distributors. It has to be enough money to keep them alive and in the game.

Again, LifeVantage has satisfied this with three different types of Fast Start bonuses, for example, for each Vantage Pack Distributor Starter Kit sold, you make $260.

That is the highest I have seen in a MLM with a start up cost less than $1,200.

This means that a new or lower ranked distributor can at least make some money quickly (thus stay), while they build they organizations.

If you want success in MLM you need to engage in MLM prospecting, there are no “if, ands and buts” about it.

I know there are some super gurus who pull it off without MLM prospecting but they do that NOW and not before they become famous.

On the road to network marketing fame, they MLM prospected.

Okay, okay, okay Chris, you made your point so let’s get into discussing ways of overcoming fear of MLM prospecting.

Before we jump into it, let me point out we all have fear to overcome, I had it, especially when it came to talking with family, but now, I am “bulletproof”. I am willing to talk to anyone, anytime.

There are four things I recommend that you do to become “bullet proof”.

1. Personal Development

This takes time to take effect but study books by Tony Robbins, Zig Ziglar, T. Harv Eker, etc. Listen to DVDs, watch videos, attend seminars. The stronger your skill set becomes, the more you will believe in yourself, the more confidence you will have.

2. Increase your belief

One of the best ways to get excited is to learn more about your product / service. Go to your company’s website, watch videos, and read about your product / service. Another great way is to go to company events. This is extremely important. There is nothing like listening and interacting in live presentations and also being surrounded by like minded people who understand and believe in your company’s product / service.

Another part of belief in yourself. I do something daily that will sound corny but I do not care, I rather be corny and rich than broke and cool. I do affirmations a few times a day. I put my hand on my heart and say “I will be Pro 10 in LifeVantage (highest rank).

The point is I am making my subconscious believe it is possible. I am allowing my spirit to manifest it!

3. Listen to Testimonials

It is always fascinating to listening people who use your company’s product / service. It will motivate you and increase your belief.

4. I learned this from my friend Cesar Rodriguez (great guy and master MLM prospector). Whenever he felt in doubt and/or fear about MLM prospecting a potential partner, he would ask himself, “what would I do if I was 10 times bolder?”.

I absolutely love that and I have been trying to apply that in not only my MLM prospecting but if life as well.

Next time you are about to walk away from a situation, stop and ask yourself, “what would I do, if I was 10 times bolder”. I guarantee if you apply this principle your results will improve.

Apply these tips above and your fear of MLM prospecting will go away and you will become “bulletproof”!

I am often asked by my team if they should attend our company’s MLM event and I can certainly understand this question.

In the past I had a lot of doubts about going, as I build my list online while most people in my company build the old fashion way, friends and family (by the way I also believe in marketing to friends and family but the internet is the next step).

Recently, I decided to listen to my sponsors and go to some company events both here in Tokyo and even went while I was in the States.

Now that I have gone, I can tell you one thing, YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY SLOWING DWN YOUR GROWTH if you do not attend!

If you want success in MLM fast, YOU MUST attend your company’s MLM event!!!

The next logical question you must have is why is Chris Blair so adamant that you must attend MLM Events.

There are many reasons but to keep this article short and readable I will just cover the most important ones.

1. Belief, belief is so huge. I know you can develop belief from watching videos, using products, hearing experiences of others but nothing compares to being surrounded by like minded people who understand your company, your products, the value you bring to society. Hearing from the leads is so important. You can only get at MLM Events!

2. At MLM events you can get face to face training from many different leaders. It is good to have a local mentor but I enjoy and find a lot of value in hearing from others. Again the ability to receive face to face training from multiple leaders can only be found at events.

3. I am growing my business in the U.S., Australia and Japan (soon Canada) an many of the readers of this article are involved in international companies. The ability to connect with everyone face to face is another key aspect. This can only be done at MLM events.

4. I know this is not a nice thing to say but MLM events allow you to screen who is serious and who is not. I know there are extreme circumstances but in general, you should focus most of your time on those who come to your company’s MLM events. The people who attend have the “whatever it takes attitude”.

5. Motivation. There is no doubt going to MLM events is a motivating experience. If you want to succeed, attending MLM events will keep you going long term.

6. Knowledge, you retain more knowledge when you can see and feel it.

7. For fun, it is just fun getting together with everyone and you feel more apart of the business and community.

I used to think Tim Sales was an old irrelevant networker who made his money many many years ago and is now sitting on the beach, boy was I wrong and I admit it.

It is true, he did retire for 18 years and it is true he continues to get large pay checks for a huge network he built many years ago but he is back and his message to our industry is as relevant today as it was in the past.

Tim Sales is to be taken seriously.

So what was his message?

Tim Sales message is, first of all, “hey I was the first one online, even before Mike Dillard and others”, he claims and no one seems to be able to dispute that he was the first networker to set up training systems and marketing online.

His other main message is that no matter how much marketing we do online, no matter how many leads we generate online, this is a people and activity business. Unless you are David Wood who seems to defy logic since he does not own a cell phone, you need to talk to people.

Tim Sales message is, no matter what, you need to do the following four things to succeed in network marketing.

1. Talk to a lot of people
2. Track how many exposures you are doing daily.
3. Follow-up
4. Coach your team

Funny how things do not change, this has been true for 60+ years.

Tim Sales says, no matter how you generate the leads, as long as you are reaching good targeted goals for exposures, you cannot fail in network marketing. It is that simple.

As much as Tim Sales was serious he was also funny.

Tim Sales started his career in the army, more precisely a special unit that was responsible for defusing bombs. During this time the war on drugs started Tim Sales found himself working with the FBI to bust drug dealers.

Why did they need Tim Sales? Because drug dealer set up small bombs on their stock supplies so they could blow them up during a raid, thus destroying the evidence.

I was enjoying life, I was making good money, there seemed no end in sight to the money.

I did not fear anything. I woke up every day heading to my head hunting company office without a worry. It did not bother me that head hunting is a tough job that required me to make hundreds of calls daily.

It is did not bother me that my income depended 100% on my labor.

Then Lehman…

Then the subprime…

Then 6 months of ZERO income…

It was in that moment that I understood the MAJOR weakness of the head hunting business and most businesses….

It was a job not a business…

Why?

Could I ever stop working?

NEVER!

I could never quit because without my labor, my sweat nothing would happen.

I had to wake daily, go to the office, and crank calls!

One day I even taped the phone to my hand (no joke, I did that on some days because it mentally helped me get into the right mindset or the money would stop.

What would happen if I could not go to work anymore?
What if I were struck by a car?

What would happen to my family?

How would they eat?

How would I eat?

Where would we be able to live with no income?

Would we be on the streets?

It was in that moment, I realized enough is enough, I am not going to be typical, I am not going to be average!

I am going to be a bad ass!

Do you know what bad asses do?

Bad asses understand the IMPORTANCE of RESIDUAL and PASSIVE income. They understand that to be free, they need to set up systems, they need to create leverage (people & systems working for them).

Mid-way through 2009 was my moment!

I made a DECISION!

A lot of people say that joining a MLM during pre-launch is the best time to join.

I get emails or see post on FaceBook all the time that say:
“This is the most amazing MLM pre-launch in history, join now!”

I am a risk taker, so I believe in joining early (within the first 5 y ears) and would even join a company during pre-launch. However, you must understand that this also comes with risk.

It is a well-known fact that most MLM fail within 2 years.

So this is the question you have to ask yourself. Do you prefer the glory and potential huge upside of joining a pre-launch MLM or do you want to join an established company and minimize your risk.

Most MLM companies have a pre-launch MLM phase. Why do they do that? It helps build excitement, provides free advertising and marketing and allows people to join (at least for now) for free. They can build up a team for free.

Of course, once the company starts you have to pay to join, but it is much easier to pay when you have built a team during pre-launch MLM so that you can make money back and get into the profit quickly.

Another big reason for pre-launch MLM is it builds up a customer base. The company does not make any money during this pre-launch phase, but they put themselves in a position make sales quickly once they launch.

The pre-launch MLM phase is also cost effective for the company. They do not have to produce a lot of product or worry about distributing product. This allows them to build up a sales team, get the team trained and then move quickly once everything is set.

I can see you are already getting excited about pre-launch MLMs and it is true many millionaires have been created by these companies, but only 10% of them will survive beyond two years. What a disaster it would be to build a large team, get a nice residual income going and have the company implode.

Before joining a pre-launch MLM you should take a good look at the following things.

1. Is the product(s) good? Do the product(s) have long term viability in the market place?
2. Is the management team experienced?
3. Is the compensation plan overaggressive? That may sound counter intuitive but many companies have gotten themselves in trouble because of paying out too much.
4. What is the long term strategy?
5. Do they have a good training program in place?

The reality though is what is really important is you. Regardless of whether you join a pre-launch MLM or one that is well established, you have to have some passion for the company’s products. You have to believe in it!

I am personally involved in a MLM that has been around a little less then 3 years and I am extremely proud of our product. I believe that with this product, anyone who applies him/herself can build long lasting residual income that will last for life.

It was about a year ago, I was totally frustrated with Numis Network. Not that Numis is a bad company, on the contrary, it is a good company and my sponsor is a good guy who I still work with closely on internet marketing but I just could not get excited about gold coins. I was literally bored when I talked with people about the product. No matter how good the company is and how great your sponsor is, if you are zero passion for the product, your dead in the water. Quite frankly, it was a mistake for me to join Numis.

Prior to Numis, I was in a super juice company and I will not mention the name here because unlike Numis, I do not think that was a good company.

I was in a place where I was lost in my MLM business. I knew I loved this industry, I was addicted to being my own boss, I was addicted to helping others, I was addicting to the idea of building long term wealth, I was making some money in affiliate marketing, but totally lost as to which MLM company was best for me.

I pulled together a couple of my buddies and we went through analyzing company after company on www.npros.com

We even made a list of criteria we were searching for in the “perfect company”

We did not find one but there were a couple of “acceptable candidates”.

I was in a place where I did not really know what to do. I wanted to be in the MLM industry, I knew I could be huge, I knew that I could help others, which is the only way to succeed in network marketing but what I did not know was which company is right for me.

In the process of promoting an online marketing software, I can across a guy name Stu (later I found out this is the very Stu that Mike Dillard mentions in his book, I had no idea who he was until months after joining Stu). Stu had zero interest in the software I was selling but asked me to check out this 10 minute ABC Primetime News clip.
