Last week after Donny Osmond mentioned Protandim LifeVantage on the Dr. Phil show, Protandim became the #1 searched term in Google for an entire day. A completely herculean feat for a MLM product

Thus, the logical question is what will happen when LifeVantage starts selling Protandim and signing up distributors in Canada and Australia (note Canada is open for customers only now, which is a recent development).

Well if the grow it anywhere close to where it is in Japan and the U.S., LifeVantage’s revenue figures could become unreal for such a young company.

So why are Protandim LifeVantage distributors experiencing such success?

The growth is undoubtedly due to the product. I have never been involved in a business where the product is so easy to promote.

I know I am going to sound insane when I say this but I have never been part of a company with a better internal culture and management team.

MLM is no doubt a numbers game; he who creates the largest MLM leads list and contacts them, more times than not, will win the game.

You have heard it over and over and over and over and over and over again, but it is so true!

THE MONEY IS IN THE LIST!

People try to complicate things when they get online but that is not necessary.  I made the same mistake but now I am keeping it simple.

So what type of MLM leads list should you make?

Your first target should be business builders.  The big money in MLM comes from those who build not from customers.  I love customers but they do not expand.  You should think of yourself as a franchiser looking for franchisees.

So who is your MLM Leads List Target A?

1)    First and foremost, current or past MLMers.  Let’s face it, they have already done the business and thus you do not have to overcome all the usual BS objections.

2)    People who are of an entrepreneurial mindset, like real estate agents, etc.

So who is your MLM Leads List Target B?

Your target B should be your friends, family and acquaintances.  The irony here is you should start with this list first.  After you have signed up a few people and things are moving, than you can move onto your Target A.

So who is your MLM Leads List Target C?

This varies based on what your product or service it, but these are potential customers.  This is a bit different than your normal bizz model because they usually go after customers first and then franchisees.

It feels good and keeps you motivated moving product.  Plus, if you cannot find any real customers for your product or service separate of the bizz opportunity, you do not have a real business.

Let me say that again…

If you product or service is not attractive to customers only regardless of the business opportunity, you do NOT have a long term business potential.

Now comes the hard part, which is contacting those on your MLM Leads List.  Many people are scared to talk about their product…

1. Are you confident in your product?
2. Are you confident in yourself?

There is only one solution and NIKE says, “Just Do It!”

The more you do it, the more you will feel comfortable.  You need to breakout of your comfort zone that is critical to success.

So we know what type of MLM Leads List we want to create but finding those business builders in large number is quite difficult….

Well not anymore, in fact, now it is amazingly easy.

The Compound Effect and Success Strategies

I just love the book by Success Magazine’s Darren Hardy, The Compound Effect!  It has had a divine influence on me and how I approach life, business and success.

First let’s talk about what The Compound Effect is not.  It is not a typical book about success where there is a constant upsell or marketing of other services.  No to say that is a bad thing, I am a marketer myself but it is just refreshing not to have element in this book.

Instead Darren talks about the little things in our life that may seem unimportant but overtime can have an amazing effect on us.

For example:

-       Going to the gym after work instead of laying on the coach
-       Reading those 10 pages of a day of personal development.
-       Making the decision to produce a piece of new content every day
-       Making the decision to do many many small things that will add up to a lot over time.

These days we are surrounded by a fast food culture.  People expect food fast, transportation fast, love fast, etc…but when it comes to success, rarely if ever does success come quickly.

I see if every day…My inbox is bombarded with ads for push bottom software that will make me millions in a few months…I get these every day, so some people must buy them.

The Compound Effect is a principle of achieving success

It is the result of the fast food culture, but how did the world reach the level of abundance that we enjoy now.  It came from entrepreneurs who created business, worked at those business day by day, who understood the power of The Compound Effect.

Do you think working those businesses day in and day out was full of excitement?  I serious doubt it, in fact despite exciting times, most of the time it was mundane, boring and often they thought about quitting.

I personally produce a blog article or video daily; do you think I always enjoy doing so?

Should you be using a MLM Lead Generation System?

I think most people remember the first lead they found through the internet, at least I do.  I am not talking about annoying people; I mean the first lead that showed interest from their side.

You had probably heard that the next best step is to get on the phone and call them, but that made you very nervous.

Eventually you get up the nerve to call them and based on the result of that call, you are either walking on water that day or down in the dumps.

Can you really get leads for free on FaceBook?

Yes you can but it cost you a lot of time.  In fact so much time, that I am now using FaceBook Pay Per Click advertising as an attempt to speed up the process.

There are many ways to get leads online and I am not going to go into the pros and cons in this article of each.  What I will do is outline a basic strategy that I am using.

Strategy:

1. Use long term free marketing like blogging and video marketing to create ownership of my own space online.  This is slow but long term.
2. Interact with people on FaceBook, this is faster than content marketing but still time consuming.  The upside is your influence on FaceBook can go viral and that is potentially huge.
3. Paid ads to bring quick results.

Now do I do these things sporadically?  No way!  I systematically engage in these activities almost daily.

So do these so called “MLM Leaders” know something that we do not know?

Is there a secret society of information out there that only these MLM leaders have access to and the rest of us are left in the cold?

Shhh….you have to promise not to tell anyone.

This is a secret; do not tell anyone one, okay?

There is no special secret.  All you need to know to be successful in MLM and I mean a 7-figure a year earner, is available to anyone.

So how did they get there?

The first thing you need to know, these leaders do not take MLM as some part-time thing, they treat it as a serious business.

But wait….I see that they have so much free time and travel the world…Yes, once they make it, yes, they enjoy residual income for years and years and years.

In the beginning though, for MLM leaders, network marketing is business and I mean serious business.

This is the biggest problem why people are not successful in MLM.   Because they do not have to make a large upfront investment, most people treat MLM as a hobby.

So how does an MLM leaders go about his/her business?

A MLM leader starts they business with the end in mind, I mean their goal.  They may slow down at some point but will not until they reach their goal.

I will give you my personal example.  I normally do not mention my main MLM in these articles as I want to appeal to everyone but I am LifeVantage.

What is my goal in LifeVantage?

My goal is to reach Master Pro 10, the highest rank and I am prepared to do whatever it takes for as long as it takes until I get there.  Failure is not in my vocabulary.

Do you think I can make my goal in a few months?   If you do, I have some very valuable land I want to sell you….just joking.

So the biggest problem is most people do not take the business seriously enough and give up way too easily.

Another key to success is consistency.  I love the crazy expression that Jim Chow says, “find something that works and do a lot of it”.

That is exactly what I am doing.  I like video marketing, blogging and FaceBook marketing.  I am doing a lot of it, daily.

How do you make money in this business?  By sponsoring and marketing.  That is the key.  You cannot make money doing other things, like organizing your list and other busy work.

Successful MLMers spend 80% of their time on activities that produce money.

Is there a lot of busy work in running business?  Yes and the only solution is to outsource it if you can afford it.  If you cannot, then outsource as soon as you can.

Another important thing is to find business builders.  Selling product to customers is fine and will make you money but you can only sell so much yourself.

So the key is to find business builders as soon as possible.  Are they easy to find, no, but you can find them if you search.

Once you have a team of builders below you, focus your efforts on coaching, encouraging and helping them.  Levering OTP (Other People’s Time) is the key to big success in any business not just MLM.

The Greatest MLM Ideas for your Success

Once you start marketing online, you will be bombarded with new MLM ideas to build?your business, at least I was.

The new ideas can be a major distraction and can be counterproductive.  It is important that you not pay attention to each one.

The facts are that many of them are good but you have to make a judgment which ones you want pursue and put your time into.  The biggest mistake I made was trying to do too much.

Try to implement too many MLM ideas will kill your business.

So which MLM ideas should you pay attention too?

I decided on the tried and tested ones, ones where there are mentors to follow.  Not to say that the newer ideas will not work, they do sometimes but I find following mentors makes my life easier.

1. To become a big earner in this industry, you need to be a student of the industry.  In my opinion, basically true.  There are exceptions but positioning yourself as an industry leader is a proven path.
2. Is anyone in the company doing well?  Do you have a mentor you can model?  But what if this is a startup? Okay, in this case, are any big industry leaders coming on board?  Basically, you want to have a mentor.
3. Do affirmations, like “I am an excellent MLM closer”, “I will be so and so rank by Oct“ daily. I know, I know this sounds crazy and that is what I thought, but it does work. Gets you focused and in the right mindset.

About 5% of people who get involved in MLM and/or internet marketing go on to earning big money.

What is the difference with these people?

It is not that they implement hundreds of new MLM ideas, instead what they do is find one – three strategies that work and they “do a lot of it” daily.

Can these ideas but new?  Yes they can but be confident it will work and “do a lot of it”!

Let’s talk about a well know concept that is true today as it was 50 years ago.  That is to present your business to two people a day.

If you are presenting too two people a day that will be 730 in one year and 1825 in 5 years.

Think about this for a second, this may be tedious and it is, but if you really presented to 1825 people, what are the odds you might find 3-5 serious builders who can make you a millionaire.

You get the point?

Another important old MLM Idea is to stick with your business long term. The main reason so many people fail is they do not stay in the game long enough to let it work!

I have no clue where they get these status but it is rumored that every week 100,000 people start a MLM home based business..

Let’s talk about the details of the product.  Often the products are not special in comparison to what is being sold in the normal retail shop and they are more expensive.  No matter what anyone tells you, this is not a sustainable business model.

Let me give you an example that will surely piss off some people but I have the right to my opinion.

I do not believe video marketing tools, like video email, video webinar, etc. system are good long term bets.  I have used these tools but never worked hard to promote the business side.

Why do I think these businesses will not last?  Because there are many great free services coming out left and right. Additionally, the technology is too easy to copy.

When you look at the company compensation plan, be sure to ask management what the total payout is.  In my company, it is about 48%.  I love it!

Wait Chris, some companies pay out a lot more.  Yes, they do and they will not be alive 10 years from now.

What would you rather do?  Build a team in a company that is destined to collapse or build a long term walk away residual income that pays you for life.

If you could have the latter, would you be willing to take less now?  I would…I get nervous when a MLM company pays out more than 50%.

Next, look at the management team.  This is a factor often overlooked.  Have the management team run other companies successfully long term?

One other key factor in choosing a MLM home based business company is going on to forums and FaceBook groups and reading the comments by current distributors.  This will tell you a lot.

Of course no company is perfect and you will find negative comments.  Often these comments are from those failing.  Question, is that person failing because of the company or themselves?

What you want to look out for is a company that has a majority negative comments on their page.

The Facts:

MLM home based business is in fact that, a business!  You need to put in time and effort over a long period of time to make good income, like any other business.

One of the harder aspects of network marketing is understanding the MLM compensation plans

MLM is the greatest business model on earth but in order to create the power, the MLM compensation plans tend to be complicated.

There are ways to make money in all compensation plans, but to maximize your income it is important to understand the compensation plan.

Below I go into details on what to pay attention too but there is only one model that I recommend you avoid like the plague and that is an MLM binary that pays on the short leg (unfortunately popular because it is good for the companies).

Before joining any company, I recommend you research on the company, products, compensation plan and MLM compensation plans in general.

Be careful of one thing though, all companies have negative articles written about them. These are often written by people who were not successful or those who hate MLM.

I never understood it but there are actually MLM haters out there who spend their time writing badly about companies.

When analyzing MLM compensation plans it is not necessary to understand every detail, that could take a long time. Additionally, they are complicated.

In my company, we have a top earner who make $50K a month and she claims she cannot explain the comp. plan and relies on the company video.

Do you see my point?  So you just want to get a general idea.

The reason I suggest analyzing other companies MLM compensation plan is so that you have a general understand of names and styles of compensation plans out there.  It will make you look like more of a professional..

The key to success is to ask yourself two questions.

1. If the company is not new, okay, does anyone in this company make the type of money I want to make?
2. How can I reach my financial goal with this ‘s plan and is this realistic?

So many people think that MLM is a get rich quick scheme or something like that but no MLM compensation plan has been designed that way.

MLM requires work and time to build in fact, it may take years for you to reach the upper levels of the company.  The good news is once you made it you could be paid for years and even decades afterwards!

One element to pay attention too is the fast start bonuses.  The higher they are, the more likely people are to stay around because there is instant gratification.

For example, in my company, the buy in for the VP level is $630 and the bonus you get is $260.  Now this is a nice bonus.

One warning though about MLM compensation plan though.  If the upfront is too high with a bad backend residual, I would forget about it.  I want long term residual income.

There is another reason to be concerned about the upfront bonuses and that is cash flow for promoting.

Let’s face it, you will eventually run out of people to talk too in your warm market and it will become necessary to market to your cold market and that often will come at a cost.

So any sign up bonus monies earned can be employed to form a nice advertising budget to keep your business going in the long term.

The key to success though in any MLM is to have a long term marketing strategy.  As mentioned above your friends, family and acquaintances will only take you so far.
